Delwood first introduced the The Legends “Rock” Dubai in 2005 which was the first indoor tennis exhibition in the GCC and featured former greats such as Björn Borg, Ilie Nâstase, Mansour Bahrami and Henri Leconte in front of a sold out crowd of over 3,000 spectators at the Madinat Jumeirah Arena.

Following the immense success of that event, the crowds returned for a historic second edition in 2006 which saw the epic rivalry of Björn Borg and John McEnroe as they officially went head to head for the first time in five years.

The year 2007 witnessed the Emirates NBD become the title sponsor for the event and the tournament mature into a top professional tennis competition by expanding to the Dubai Tennis Stadium, The Aviation Club and signing a five year partnership agreement with InsideOut Sports & Entertainment, founded in 2005 by former World No.1 and Hall of Fame tennis player Jim Courier and former SFX & Clear Channel executive Jon Venison.

Founded in 2005 by InsideOut Sports & Entertainment, the 2008 Outback Champions Series features eight events where champion tennis players continue to exercise their competitive instincts in tournament formats. To be eligible to compete on the Outback Champions Series, players must have either; reached a Grand Slam singles final, been ranked in the top five in the world or played singles on a championship Davis Cup team. Emirates NBD The Legends “Rock” Dubai 2008 will be held at the Dubai Tennis Stadium, The Aviation Club with an extended format of four days intense tennis action from November 19th until the 22nd. A Round Robin format of two group’s guarantees that the biggest names in tennis will play at least three matches in every event; two competitive singles and one entertaining doubles. As with every year the tournament is as much about entertainment as the tennis itself, with on-court action providing the perfect combination of excitement, tension and skill as well the popular Kids Day, Pro-AM and Charity Gala Dinner to begin the proceedings.
